Instructorless Life Drawing
Every Thursday evening from 6:30-9:30pm. Only $15 for 3 hours. You provide your own materials and we'll provide the models.

Express yourself this fall through a variety of art materials and fun projects! Exciting projects and a variety of materials will allow for growth and an opportunity for self expression. The sixth week will culminate with a group exhibition at the gallery.

Expressive arts is a group for adult women seeking to express themselves. We will explore body image, sexuality, age, memories, wishes, wounds, and your inner creativity. Participants will use a variety of art materials, creative writing, and music in a supportive group setting.
SESSION TWO
This 6 week course, in an intimate setting of no more than 6 students is suitable for beginners and artists ages between the ages of 16 to 70. You will work with Melanie, as she introduces you to various painting techniques in an
abstract form. Melanie will give you a demonstration with hands on guidance, for you to discover the MAGIC of paint. Get ready to create some beautiful art of your own. We will be working with oils, acrylic, latex, ink, plaster, pencil on canvas and paper. The last
week of your course, you will incorporate all the techniques you have learned and create one single painting.

Introduction to Free Hand Drawing
This is an introductory course for the basics of free hand drawing. Recommended for ages 12 and older, this course will cover basic techniques of describing light, shade and tone, value, line, texture and pattern. Students will be provided with a variety of mediums to experiment and work with and will be encouraged to think visually and volumetrically.
6 Wednesdays, starting November 5 from 9:30-11:30am OR 6:30-8:30pm
each session (6 classes) is $170 (includes all materials)
INSTRUCTOR BIO'S
Christine Mitchell has over 8 years of experience as an artist educator, arts programmer and art therapist. She has BA in Visual Arts with a focus on mixed media and a graduate diploma in Art Therapy. Christine’s passion lies in process based art and the power of creative expression. Her work experience includes positions at The Living Arts Centre and the Home for Creative Opportunity in Regent Park. As an art therapist, she worked with the Children’s Aid Society. Currently, Christine works at The Harbourfront Centre as an Artistic Associate. Christine is excited to be offering Art Therapy and mixed media classes for both children and adults at Studio Nine Gallery.
International artist describes Melanie Day in every sense of the word. She was born in Somerset England, Immigrated to Canada in 1972. Graduated from O.C.A.D in Toronto with a fine arts degree.
Melanie works in various different mediums, with a preference for oils on canvas. With a favorite genre figurative and scapes. Her work has been showcased and collected in Toronto,New York, Mexico,London and New York. Melanie's work has been featured on CITY TV and CBS Quebec.
Janna Finkel immigrated to Canada in 1997. She graduated from the Fine Arts program of York University with distinguished honors specializing in studio and art theory as well as minoring in film studies. Currently she is pursuing a Master’s degree in Art History at Queen’s University. She is a multifaceted artist who enjoys working in a variety of media. Janna primarily works with surrealist, symbolist, and abstract-expressionist influences, and her paintings can be found in collections across Canada and Europe.
Ninette Gyorody lives to craft! She is also an instructor at the University of Guelph, Fanshawe College, and the University of Western Ontario. With a BFA in Theatre, specializing in costume design and a MA in Art History, both from York University, Ninette has over ten years of professional experience as a curator, designer, educator, collections technician, writer, and programmer. She has worked at McMaster Museum of Art, London Children’s Museum, McIntosh Gallery and the Living Arts Centre. Her previous volunteer experiences include working at the Art Gallery of Ontario and at The Arts Project in London, ON.
